The Myanmar military will conduct military operations in rebel-held Rakhine state
A Myanmar government spokesman said Monday that the Myanmar military will deploy military operations to repel rebels in the state of Rakhine, behind a four-policeman killing at a police station last week. According to a news release from AFP on Monday, January 7, 2019.
According to the spokesperson, the Myanmar President's Office has already instructed the National Army to lead military operations to crack down on rebel groups in Rakhine state to restore security and stability.
Violence erupted last week in the western state of Rakhine, after a rebel group launched an attack on a police station in the area, killing four policemen as revenge to what they Has accused the Myanmar military of using its military to burn their villages.
